Skip Trace Assistance

To assure that your Common Manual remains current, please record this document on your LPM/LPB index, and retain it in Appendix E of your manual.

Effective March 31, 2003, LOSFA will no longer accept requests for skip-trace assistance on accounts less than 60 days delinquent, or non-delinquent skip Lender Requests for Assistance (LRAs).

Once initial skip-trace efforts have been completed by the lender, and the account has become at least 60 days delinquent, the lender may file a delinquent-skip LRA with LOSFA. At this point LOSFA will begin skip-trace efforts in an attempt to locate the borrower.

Once an LRA has been filed with LOSFA, the lender may request skip-trace assistance during any point in the delinquency for assistance in locating a borrower.

This update affects the Default Aversion Assistance Timeframes chart, located in Chapter 8.1.J of the Common Manual, page 14.

For questions regarding this change in policy, contact Robert Pollage, Default Prevention Administrator, LOSFA at 1-800-256-3137, extension 1062, or locally (225) 922-1062.
