NSLDS Status Codes

To assure that your Common Manual remains current, please record this document on your LPM/LPB index, and retain it in Appendix E of your manual.

The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) has issued new loan status codes. These codes are used to report the status of loans as well as the determination of default rates and student eligibility. According to NSLDS, all data providers must use the new codes exclusively by July 1, 2001. These new codes may require significant system changes.

The new status codes and their definitions are available at the following Internet address:

                http://ifap.ed.gov/dev_csb/new/nslds.nsf/

This takes the user to NSLDS Reference Materials. Guaranty Agency Technical Update # GA-2000-05 contains the actual codes. The document contains an NSLDS contact name and phone number if you need additional assistance.
