The U.S. Department of Education has approved new loan deferment forms for the FFELP (see attached July, 1999 Dear Guaranty Agency Director). The eight separate deferment forms reflect the unique federal requirements pertaining to deferment of an FFELP loan for the following reasons:

These forms may be used immediately, however, use is mandatory when providing deferment forms to borrowers on or after November 1, 1999. Other deferment forms may still be processed after that date, but all new deferment forms sent to borrowers on or after November 1, 1999 must be the enclosed forms.

You may reproduce these forms for use only as specified in the Printing Instructions of the Department’s Dear Guaranty Agency Director letter. You may download copies in "pdf" format for reproduction from the NCHELP website at www.nchelp.org or from the Department’s IFAP website at http://ifap.ed.gov.
