President Clinton recently declared Anoka, Hennepin, Isanti, Kandiyohi, Ramsey, Sherburne, and Wright counties in MINNESOTA to be disaster areas because of storm damage and flooding that occurred in those counties beginning June 28, 1997. The President also declared Caledonia, Franklin, Lamoille, Orleans, and Washington counties in VERMONT to be disaster areas because of storm damage and flooding that occurred during the period of July 15-17, 1997.

The Department's interim disaster-related forbearance policies first outlined in LOSFA’s January 28, 1997 may be applied to assist residents of those 12 counties. We will notify you if additional areas are designated by the President or FEMA. Questions and concerns may be addressed to the Department's toll-free number at 1-800-433-7327, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.
